At Semester's End

I really enjoyed my time in Drawing 2. I did start off pretty rough according to the grades on the back of my homework assignments. Since my grades have been progressing up to this point, it makes me feel like i earned the grades i got and i have progressed as an artist. I still feel like there are some assignments I did not learn completely, but overall I feel like I left my mark in Drawing 2 with Jason Cole.

Outside Experience

Today actually ended up being a pretty bright day which was good for this assignment. Doing the project didn't feel like work, but more like a nice day to go out and enjoy nature. Doing the process we had to do felt easier outside than it did on the in class assignment.

Im so Nighttime

I was actually surprised on this nighttime assignment that it was fairly easy. I felt that it was easy to block out the composition and add details right after. Maybe it was the fact that it was cold outside that it didn't take as long as i anticipated.

Nice examples of strong pos/neg high contrast and blah blah blah (VIDEO EDITION)

I feel this is a good example because it takes contrasting to an extreme. strong value range and also even a nice composition with every moving frame.

I chose this video more so because of the scene at the 45 sec mark. the scene has a strong sense of light source and beautiful, hard, rich darks coming from the opposite side.

I find this one a good example for the fact that even the animations of transition shots of the credits highly rage in darks and lights. great sence of light source with the electricity. beautiful darks and lights throughout the whole trailer.

"At Semester's End"

I can honestly say that i feel i could have done much better if i actually looked at the syllabus and the blog more often. Not doing this made me not fully understand outside assignments and either do something wrong or not have it on the day it was supposed to be turned in. I still feel with these problems I've done an exceptional job this semester. It's funny how Cole said that it seems like people do better on outside assignments than in class assignments, but for me i feel it was the opposite. Over this semester i have learned a lot of essential techniques that I thought I knew, but this class made me realize otherwise.

Pencil, Charcoal, or conte: what is your medium of choice? why?

I am team charcoal all the way. I feel that charcoal creates a high contrast with how dark the lines can get giving it a dynamic look. When I use pencils all I can really focus on is the glossy silver look that it gives. Conte gives you too many rules. keeping it sharpened is my least favorite part.
